My twin sister needed a kidney. I went into protective mode and thought about how I could better her situation.

My father left a legacy that would allow someone else to continue life. It was an act of service our family could be proud of.

There are too many of us dying while waiting for a lifesaving transplant. The NPHC organizations are here to help change that.

It came to a point where there was nothing the doctors could do. My transplant is one of the best things to happen to me.

My blood pressure was 220 over 200. I was immediately sent to the hospital and put on dialysis.

I wasn't nervous at all. There was no thought at all. I'm glad I could help--that's my mom.

I thought I was going to die. I'd Like to tell my organ donor I'm not taking my second chance at life for granted.

20 people die everyday waiting and on February 25, 2010, my husband was one of those 20 people.
