Bydea and Tashaya share their Rooted in Life story

I wasn’t nervous at all. There was no thought at all. I’m glad I could help—that’s my mom.” – Tashaya, living kidney donor to her mom.

Why Donate?

One person has the power to heal more than 75 lives through tissue donation

Kayella’s mother, Elouise, has dealt with many health challenges and related surgeries throughout her life. Donated tissue has been instrumental in the success of those surgeries, including one to correct a degenerative bone disease in her back. Because of the generosity of selfless tissue donors, Kayella and her mother have witnessed, first-hand, the healing power of donation.

Black people are 3x more likely to need an organ transplant than any other ethnicity

Peace has always supported organ, eye and tissue donation because of the hundreds of thousands of people on the waitlist. And the disparities of those in the Black community waiting for kidney transplants. She is hopeful that the donation and transplantation stories shared by Divine 9 members will spark conversations within Black households and help flip the narrative amongst the community.

She wants people to know the positive side of donation – by registering you can widen the possibility of helping others and save the lives of those on the national transplant waiting list.
